Pickleball

Welcome to HCA’s 2026 Pickleball Group

HCA’ Pickleball Club runs from the beginning of May to the end of September. The Club reserves specific court times at Hawkwood Community Park and runs drop-in sessions for members. This is an all-levels recreational opportunity with leveled play. Your $35 covers maintenance of equipment and admin time, and you will have access to 6 reserved drop-in times a week!

Purchase your Pickleball Club membership here: https://hawkwoodca.getcommunal.com/member/memberships/available

*BOTH HCA and the add-on Pickleball Club membership are required.

Overview:

The Club is drop-in based, meaning you show up at the HCA Tennis Courts at the specified time, and play whoever shows up! The goal is a relaxed, community-focused group that is inclusive, encouraging and most of all, FUN! If you're a beginner or novice player, attend the OPEN PLAY sessions. If you're an Intermediate or above player (3.0+ rating), attend the INTER/INTER+ sessions

The 2026 season will feature 6 drop-in sessions a week, with each session extended to 3 hours and split by level to encourage both beginners and intermediate players to attend. We will offer free ranking sessions, held by a certified Level II coach, at the beginning of the season to help players know their skill level. Open Play is for players of all skill levels and Inter+ is for players 3.0 and above. Please be considerate and ready to play against a variety of levels. While we strive to offer leveled play, there will be times when varying abilities must play against each other.

NOTES

  1. 2026 Club memberships are $35 for residents or $55 for non-residents, which covers court reservation times, insurance, admin costs, equipment upkeep, cost of living increases and many other aspects of the program and the HCA as a whole. In comparison, to have access to a city court for 1.5 hours, 6 times a week for 5 months at $8.50 an hour, the cost is over $1700. Memberships do not cover personal equipment such as paddles or balls*. Note that in addition to your Club membership, your basic HCA membership also entitles you to 2 court rentals every 2 weeks.
  2. There will be no official HCA WhatsApp Pickleball chat this year. It's up to members' discretion to create and manage group communication. If group communication is created, it must be inclusive and respectful.
  3. Players will no longer need to sign the sign in sheets at the start of the session. Players should have access to their Club Membership (printed copy, saved to phone, access to log into Communal etc.) in case proof of club membership is required on the courts.
  4. Hosting volunteer signups will be listed for the entire season at the start of May. Every member is encouraged to volunteer. Hosting duties consist of receiving the Storage Box code, opening the storage box, setting up the nets (with help from other players), facilitating play, and taking down equipment at the end of the session.
