Welcome to the Snow Patrol Volunteers – an initiative designed to make winter a little easier for our neighbours, and build skills and job experience for our community teenagers! Our program pairs residents in need of snow shoveling with local teens looking to gain valuable job experience and log volunteer hours. When it snows more than 2" in a single event, you head to your residence to shovel for them! You have 48 hours from start of snowfall to shovel, meaning that you can fit it in around after school activities and other commitments.
Teens, what's in it for YOU? Besides the satisfaction of helping your neighbours and contributing to our amazing community, you'll get: an honourarium at the end of the season, as a thank you for your hard work, a letter of reference, and a job description entry ready to add to your resume! Residents, what's in it for you? As a resident receiving shoveling services, you can expect your Patroller to shovel within 48 hours of the start of any snowfall 2" or more. This is designed to give flexibility to our Patrollers, who are fitting this in around school, activities and responsibilities. Find more info HERE
The Snow Patrol program runs from November 1 2025 to March 31, 2026.
Last year our patrollers shoveled 10 times. The year previous would have been 7.
