Opening of our rinks depends greatly on the weather we get. Most years, the earliest we can expect the rinks to be usable is around the beginning of December. We usually need about 10-14 days of temperatures well below 0C before we can open the rinks, as it takes many floods in order to build the ice up thick enough. We are also 100% dependent on volunteers for all aspects of preparing and maintaining our rinks. The more volunteers we have able to help, the more often we can flood once the cold weather comes and the quicker we can build up our ice surfaces. We always welcome new volunteers, so if you think you may be able to help out email us at rink@hawkwoodca.com!
